Hi Jeff, hope this note finds you well. I no longer have your direct email as it has been far too long since your twice a week classes at the AB School of Ballet. (We all completely understand and respect, of course, why you chose this decision). I always thought you were crazy anyway to drive into this busy city on those snowy winter nights.

You may or may not be able to put a name to a face but I brought friends from all walks of my life to your class and was dubbed even back then a Jeff Mah ‘groupie’. I still after all these years lament how I miss your classes because your teaching resonated with me .. your creative approach to teaching ensured everyone always took something away philosophically…physically… mentally … no matter the level of their practice .. Everyone realized a ‘learning’ and a ‘benefit’ to their physical and spiritual well being.

I have two close friends who currently have a daughter living in Canmore working on her MD residency. I have suggested we head out one weekend to a class (we were supposed to bike and yoga but that window is now closed for 2017) or perhaps a short hike but fear for me
I would like to bring them to one of your classes. They are much more diligent than I in their weekly practice with Calgary’s Kathy Nash.

Here is my challenge. I have never been to the Yoga Lounge in Canmore. I can read and review the schedule but I cannot determine from the schedule class description if when you teach Saturday and or Sunday .. If either of these Sat/Sun classes or any of ‘your’ yoga lounge classes for that matter are at all similar to the very creative classes you taught in Calgary at the AB Ballet School. Ie.. not the open with traditional 12 sun salutations followed by set # of exactly same warrior poses flowing the same this week as last week. (It is not lost on me the implications of what I just said as this does not resonate with the word ‘practice’). Thus my sporadic toe in tow out approach to yoga.

I have waxed on poetically that you are the most innovative and creative and ‘non-traditional’ inspiring teacher. That your approach to the practice of yoga is always different. Soooo ..

If you were to suggest or recommend one of your yoga lounge classes that may be similar for these friends to experience I would appreciate your guidance as to which.. or perhaps there might be an opportunity to do a private with a small group? Thanks Jeff.

      Hi Sue!

Thanks for the kind words and for the sweet message 🙂 Of course I remember you!

For your friends who are living in Canmore, I would let them know that I typically teach on Saturdays at 11:00am. It’s a great class. If they are looking for my most “edgy” class, then Tuesdays at noon are great. Here, we are exploring a concept called “Yoga Strong” where we dive into all the strength pieces of the upper body and core that are often woefully missing in regular practice. It’s a great time!

Here’s a summary of my other classes which I also love:

Monday 9:30am – fundamentals and smart movement
Monday 7:00pm – long holds and intelligent openings
Monday 8:30pm – late night, one hour practice

Fridays 5:30pm – Yoga Lab. A concept is focused upon and we dive deep into them

I hope that this helps! Additionally, I’m teaching in Calgary once a month at Junction 9 studio. My next class in this workshop series is actually tomorrow on Sunday Oct 22nd, 3pm – 4:30pm. Perhaps I’ll see you there?

Wishing you all the best and hoping that we eventually cross paths again,

      Big hug!
