Shoulder Strap Chest Opening

October 13, 2015 — 0

Ditch the slouch and feel the difference!

Have you ever had a sinking feeling in the chest? Where the shoulders round forward, the upper back fatigues and it’s hard to inhale all the way to the top of your lungs? If you spend a lot of time at a desk, it’s all too easy to have this become our default shape.

This week’s video shows you how to take a simple yoga strap and wrap it around the body in a way that will open your shoulder girdles and lighten your heart. All you need is a strap at least 8 feet long and a desire for change.

After wearing the strap for some time (I do at least 10 minutes), when you finally loosen it off, take a moment to feel your body. It’s a great memory to have. This is YOU, with an open chest.

Please share this video with any friends who may find it helpful. And in the meantime, enjoy your new, fuller breath!

All the best,

jeff

The Amy Ippoliti Interview

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to have illuminating conversations with incredible yogis and have always wanted to record them. With the mighty Amy Ippoliti coming to the Lounge this Sept 10-12, 2015, the time was right for capturing insights.

An incredibly generous and candid interviewee, some of Amy’s gems in our talk include:

  • What it’s like to practice yoga underwater with whale sharks(!)
  • Tips for new teachers starting out
  • Crossing the gap in meditation from “casual” to “life-changing”
